Given that Plastic and Aluminum Venetian blinds have a lot in common, often homeowners have to look deeper into the characteristics of each type in order to be able to make a decision as to which type to choose.  Either blind type can look well in your home, whether you use the blinds alone to decorate your windows, or perhaps combine them with other items such as drapes.

One of the main differences between the two types of blinds is that Venetian blinds made from aluminum are usually more expensive to purchase than plastic Venetian blinds.  This is to be expected given that aluminum is a heavier material and is more costly to produce.

If you are operating on a reasonably tight budget for decorating your home, it is quite likely that you will consider the purchase price of plastic blinds to be much more attractive.

However you need to weigh up the  benefits of getting the blinds at a cheaper price against the fact that aluminum blinds are always going to be more durable and long lasting due toe the fact that they are made from a more substantial material.  Getting cheap blinds is one thing, but if you have to replace them too often, it might work out to be false economy in the long run.

One point that is always made regarding Venetian blinds, whatever they are made of, is that they need to be hung properly.  Properly hung blinds look well and should last for a long time. However if blinds are hung in any way at an angle, they will look poorly and will get tangled easily, strike off each other if they are hanging side by side and will invariably become damaged in a reasonably short space of time.

Both plastic and aluminum Venetian blinds have their advantages.  Venetian blinds will look well in conservatories, dining areas or most any areas of a home, so it is simply a matter of figuring out which type suits your personal needs best and then going out and finding the best value blind of that type on the market.
