Tennis elbow is an arm disorder that is caused when the tendon fibers, which connect the muscles to the elbow joints gets swollen on the expenses of tremendous stress and/or repetitive actions done by the elbow. This is a very painful injury and will leave you incapacitated for sure. So, what does one do if he or she is plagued by this condition? Well, you need to immobilize your arm by simply resting it or wearing a tennis elbow support brace, take medications like ibuprofen or naproxen for example and also perform certain exercises. Here is a short list of easy to follow exercises for tennis elbow.
The Forearm Extensor Stretch
- If the pain is severe in your case of tennis elbow, you will find this exercise extremely beneficial. Here is how you do this; extended your arm right in front of you. Your palm should be in a prone position (facing down). Now, bend your wrist up until your fingers are pointing down towards the ground and keep it like so for a few counts and then release. To give your wrist a good stretching, you can clench your fist; rather than letting your fingers lose.
The Forearm Flexor Stretch + Supination
- Extend your arms fully with your palm facing the ceiling. Now, bend your wrist down (palm pointing forwards and fingers pointing down on the ground). Next, using your other hand, grab your fingers and then start pulling it towards the direction of your body. This provides additional tension along the wrist and forearm. Try to hold this position for about twenty seconds (or longer if you can) and then release.
Arm Stretch
- This is an easy exercise to do. Stand about arm’s length away from the surface of the wall with the back of your hand leaning against the wall and fingers pointing down on the ground. What you need to do is to simply press your hand against the wall to stretch your arm. You can do this anytime you please.
