Why Cheap Out On A Guitar When You Can Get An Ibanez S470?
Most new guitarists go for a cheap guitar when they’re first starting out. Understandably, it’s more than likely due to a limited budget and a lack of good information. The problems with a cheap (usually low quality) guitar are the many problems associated with the cheap materials used in construction that will fail down the road.
A much better option is a mid-range priced guitar, such as an Ibanez S470 for instance. For a new guitarist it’s very important to have a guitar that is well rounded in its tonal abilities and is capable of giving the player a comfortable experience, which is very important when your hands and fingers are in the strengthening phase.
The Ibanez S470 is a solid body electric guitar that delivers a warm to crunchy tone that is perfect for most styles of music. The body has a strat-like appearance with dual cutaway horns in an asymmetrical configuration. Mahogany is the primary wood used in the body with a choice model coming with a quilted cut of maple for the cap. What really makes the body on the S470 unique is the contoured design around the perimeter. It’s comfortable to play because of the rounded edge yet still has a punch because the middle of the body at the area from the pickups to the neck joint is still thick.
New guitarists will also enjoy the advanced style of the wizard neck on the S470. The wizard is composed of maple and walnut in a laminated fashion that Ibanez has perfected. Flat, thin and strong are the primary features of this neck. This allows for a fast and precise playing experience and keeps the neck straight and free of twists over long periods of time. The neck is also a set-in style, which means it is fit into a pocket at the base of the body. Normally there is a pronounced heel at this joint but Ibanez has done a great job of reducing this heel, making it much easier to access the frets up high.
As was mentioned at the beginning of the article, a cheap guitar is not always the way to go when you have options such as the Ibanez S470. You can find a used one for under $500 and would be well worth saving for because in the end you’ll have one of the highest quality guitars for the money on the market today and you’ll be able to play pretty much any category of music with it.
