Why Not Consider A Candlelit Wedding?

Before the invention of electricity and then the standardisation of electric lighting in households throughout modern, developed nations, candles were more of a practicality than anything else.  However, now that we have become used to the bright glare of electric bulbs and florescent tubes, the soft and gentle glow provided by candles and lanterns creates a special sense of ambiance that makes just about any place seem romantic.

Candlelit weddings have steadily begun to increase in popularity because of the naturally dreamy and enchanting atmosphere of being surrounded by candles in a dark venue while you gaze into the eyes of your future spouse.  Since candles tend to be relatively inexpensive and available in bulk, surrounding your guests in a sea of flickering candles is a great way to decorate your wedding ceremony and reception without having to offer up a huge portion of your wedding budget.

These special weddings can take place both indoors and outside wedding venues based on your preference also.  If you choose an indoor candlelit wedding, to make the effect of the candles even more dramatic, you might consider leaving the lights on while everyone finds their places and takes their seats with all the candles already lit.  Then, as the bride walks down the aisle, turn off all the lights so that she can be seen gliding through the flickering of candle light.

Outdoor candlelit weddings will need to pay close attention to climate conditions.  Be sure to have sturdy or sheltered candles (perhaps even in delicate glass lanterns) if it is going to be especially windy in the area.  If you worry about mosquitoes being a bother, you can buy special torches to ward them off and act as additional flames.

Holders for all these candles can be simple or unique.  Intricate candelabras look especially amazing as the backdrop for the altar where you will say your vows.  Many wedding supply vendors even rent candle holders so that you do not have to spend a great deal of money buying something you may not use again.

A candlelit wedding does not have to be something you only dream about.  They are possible and not too difficult to arrange if it is truly your choice to be surrounded by candle light on your wedding day.
